Inspired by the Texas Landscape

Inspired by the Texas landscape, I create small watercolor paintings that capture the quiet beauty of nature. Each piece is an invitation to slow down, find a moment of calm, and reconnect with the natural world. My hope is that these little landscapes bring a sense of peace to the spaces they call home.

A little About the Artist

I'm Kathryn Bray, a Texas-based artist with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from Oklahoma State University, where I focused on watercolor and oil painting. After graduating in 2007, I spent several years pursuing art professionally and exhibiting my work in galleries and art shows in Oklahoma.

Since moving to Texas in 2019, I've found new inspiration in the natural beauty of my surroundings, particularly the fields of bluebonnets that bloom each spring. Every landscape I paint begins with a place I've visited and photographs I've taken along the way. Rather than simply reproducing a scene, I want to capture something of the experience of being there.

After becoming a mother in 2022, I eventually found my way back to painting and rediscovered the joy of creating small watercolor landscapes. Working in 4×6 and 5×7 inches, I love the simplicity of a small palette and a little paper. Even in a small format, I believe a painting can offer a meaningful moment of beauty, calm, and connection to nature.

Bring a Little Nature to Your Space

I believe art doesn't have to be large to make a meaningful difference in a space. Each small watercolor is an opportunity to bring the beauty of the natural world into everyday life.
